  • CAMEX 2014 - Thanks for the Memories!

    03/12/2014 — Scott Frederick

CAMEX 2014 Picture2PartnerShip® is a leading shipping solutions provider to small businesses across North America and - as the only endorsed NACS and CAMEX shipping provider - the college industry remains an important customer segment for us. That is why we annually have a large presence at CAMEX - the collegiate retailing industry's meeting place for the past 80 years.

CAMEX 2014 was especially important to PartnerShip as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary this year. Once again, we sponsored opening night on Friday, hosted a special customer appreciation party on Saturday night, and used a coffee bar style booth to serve up coffee and cookies on the trade show floor Sunday through Tuesday.

Here are a few video and picture highlights from this year's event.

CAMEX is a great way for PartnerShip to say THANK YOU to our many college industry customers for their business and loyalty over the past 25 years! The following video/slide show contains pictures submitted by numerous college stores that either attended our 25th Anniversary Customer Appreciation Party at CAMEX 2014, or those that visited our 25th Anniversary College Store Appreciation website at www.PartnerShip.com/25years

PartnerShip also has shipping programs and services for non-college industry small businesses, retailers and suppliers. With over 17,000 active customers across North America, our customer base has become very large and diverse. We ship everything from shoes to auto parts, and everything in between. So, if you're one of our many non-college industry customers, we want to say THANK YOU for your business as well. In fact, if you visit www.PartnerShip.com/25th, you can watch our short thank you video and sign-up for some fun prizes we'll be raffling off throughout the year.

  • PartnerShip is Ready for CAMEX 2014

    02/24/2014 — Scott Frederick

2014camex logoIn less than one week, PartnerShip will be attending one of its biggest trade shows of the year ... CAMEX 2014. CAMEX has a long history of being the collegiate retailing industry's meeting place. For more than 80 years, volunteers and staff of the National Association of College Stores (NACS) have worked together to create and grow this premier industry event. Today CAMEX is the industry's largest trade show and educational event attracting attendees from more than 1,100 college stores and more than 700 exhibiting companies.

Since PartnerShip was originally created by and for the college retail industry 25 years ago, it only makes sense that we play a large part in supporting this annual event every year. 2014 will be no exception as our involvement will include the following activities:

    • Sponsoring CAMEX Opening Night, which will include The PartnerShip Texas Shootout Challenge with some fun prizes for all.
    • Hosting The PartnerShip 25th Anniversary Customer Appreciation Party at Eddie Dean's Ranch. This invite-only, VIP event will allow us to entertain many of our college customers with an unforgettable evening of food, drinks, live country music, mechanical bull-riding, prizes, and more.
    • Exhibiting on the trade show floor with a contemporary coffee-house themed booth. As we did last year, PartnerShip will be treating hundreds of CAMEX attendees and exhibitors to complimentary coffee, lattes, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies while they relax and re-charge from a full-day of activity.

If you're attending CAMEX 2014, be sure to stop by booth #1931 for a beverage and snack, and to help us celebrate our 25th anniversary of serving the college industry. Our booth will look like what you see here below. We'll also have our dedicated Exhibit Transportation Team on hand to help exhibitors with their priority move-in and move-out service as the official shipping provider for NACS and CAMEX; and our senior account representatives will be helping new and existing customers maximize their savings through one of our industry shipping programs. See you in Dallas!

  • PartnerShip Honored with 5th Consecutive NorthCoast 99 Award

    09/19/2013 — Scott Frederick

NorthCoast 99 WinnerNACS, Inc. (and PartnerShip as one of its subsidiaries) was officially honored yesterday evening with a fifth consecutive NorthCoast 99 award. NorthCoast 99 is an annual recognition program that honors 99 great workplaces for top talent in Northeast Ohio. The program was developed and is presented by ERC. ERC is Northeast Ohio's leading and largest professional organization dedicated to HR practices, programs and services.

Prominent Northeast Ohio organizations were honored at the Westlake, OH banquet last night, including some very familiar names such as the Cleveland Indians, Great Lakes Brewing Co., Majestic Steel USA Inc., University Hospitals, Avery Dennison, Panther Expedited Services, FedEx Custom Critical, and 15-time winner Shearer's Foods Inc. Joining representatives of these prominent organizations was a small, cross-section of NACS, NACSCORP and PartnerShip employees who proudly accepted the award.

Fifteen years ago, NorthCoast 99 was started to showcase organizations that understood that building and enhancing workplaces for top performers was the key to success. It has since transformed from a workplace competition to a movement - with more and more CEOs shifting towards a great workplace strategy. Here are some interesting facts about this year's NorthCoast 99 companies that were shared at the event:

    • 99% sponsor fundraisers, charitable events and/or scholarships
    • 50% coordinate an organization-wide day of community services
    • 83% provide ongoing coaching and feedback to employees at least quarterly
    • Fill open positions with internal talent 32% of the time
    • Provided, on average, 47 hours of training and development to employees in 2012
    • 86% offer wellness incentives to employees, and 83% conduct wellness challenges or competitions
    • 76% of the leaders hold small/intimate group gatherings with employees at least monthly
    • 89% offer financial planning assistance

To end the evening, Craig Keilburger, co-founder of Free The Children, gave a very inspirational speech. His message included examples of how one person can make dramatic, positive impacts on the lives of others - a message taken to heart by the NorthCoast 99 companies that strive each and every day to help their employees be successful.

Congratulations to all of this year's NorthCoast 99 winners. Thank you for all that you accomplish, and for building great workplaces along side NACS, Inc. in Northeast Ohio!

College Colors Day 2013On behalf of the PartnerShip team ... happy College Colors Day 2013! College Colors Day is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel throughout the day on Friday, August 30.

PartnerShip was originally founded in 1989 by the nonprofit National Association of College Stores (NACS) organization to serve the shipping needs of the college industry. Although our business has diversified into many other industries over the past 20+ years, we still have extensive experience and many relationships with college retailers and suppliers across North America. So then, it's only appropriate that our employees should showcase their college pride on this special day.

Even though our employees are proudly wearing their diverse college colors today - when it comes to serving the needs of our college and non-college customers, our employee team is solidly united around the PartnerShip colors of blue and green. When our customers think about the PartnerShip colors and spirit, we want them to know that they can expect simple, worry-free shipping; outstanding savings; exemplary customer service and support every step of the way, from friendly, knowledgeable staff ... and that's our promise.

  • Third Annual National Student Day Coming in October

    08/19/2013 — Scott Frederick

National Student Day LogoFor the third consecutive year, our nonprofit parent organization - the National Association of College Stores (or NACS) - will be sponsoring the National Student Day. This special event encourages college stores across the U.S. and Canada to celebrate and connect with their students and customers on October 3, 2013.

Additionally, National Student Day offers vendors the opportunity to gain direct exposure to the student demographic through advertising on the official National Student Day web site, as well as enhanced branding when companies imprint their logo on all offered merchandise.

More than 1,500 college stores participated in the 2012 celebration - and there are already more than that signed up to participate this year.

Even though we have greatly diversified our book of business over the past few years (we now work with over 100 different associations and trade groups and tens-of-thousands shippers across many industries), PartnerShip still has strong roots in the college retail industry. It was almost 25 years ago that PartnerShip was created by and for college bookstores around the country - and we proudly continue to support the industry today.

If you're a store, vendor or partner to the college retail industry, please visit NationalStudentDay.com to learn more about this awesome event - and mark your calendars for 10.3.13!

  • 99% Fat-Free Business for Retailers

    07/03/2012 — Scott Frederick

PartnerShip Lean Logistics WebinarPartnerShip recently had the opportunity to co-facilitate a webinar with our sister company, NACSCORP. The webinar was titled 99% Fat-Free Business: Get Lean by Reducing Sourcing & Logistics Costs, and was for the benefit of college stores and retailers that are looking to get more efficient with their inbound and outbound sourcing and logistics. The "dietary consultants" presenting the material were Polly Myers, program manager with PartnerShip, and Kevin McNamara, sales manager with NACSCORP.

On the sourcing side, Kevin talked about getting on the scale to assess where opportunities existing for sourcing efficiencies. These include determining time spent per purchase order, investigating labor costs, estimating average order sizes, analyzing inbound freight expenses, and understanding the impact of returns and credits. Some good lean sourcing practices discussed by Kevin include:

    • Effectively deploy and use POS systems

    • Consolidate inbound orders to ease store burden

    • Analyze returns to improve buying habits

On the logistics side, Polly talked about reducing shipping expenses by using a number of lean logistics techniques. Supported with numerous real-life examples, Polly discussed each of these techniques in some detail:

    • Determine your current freight rates

    • Use PartnerShip to negotiate better LTL freight pricing

    • Consolidate your orders for lower shipping rates

    • Select the correct mode and service level

    • Optimize your inbound shipping with vendors

    • Consolidate invoicing to reduce administration

The bottom-line message for college stores was that they should feel confident that NACS has resources to help them analyze and reduce their sourcing and logistics costs. If you're interested in a replay of this webinar, or in any of the topics discussed, just let us know at http://ship.partnership.com/learnmore

  • Mark Your Calendar for National Student Day

    04/17/2012 — Scott Frederick

National Student DayOne of the cool things about the affiliation that PartnerShip has with the National Association of College Stores (NACS, Inc.), is that we get to participate in some really good projects and events that support greater education and academics across North America. For instance, NACS recently launched its campaign for the 2nd Annual National Student Day on October 4, 2012.

From a student standpoint, this day is about celebrating and promoting social responsibility. In addition to academics, students across the U.S. and Canada do some pretty amazing things - from volunteering to be a Big Brother or Sister, to helping out at homeless shelters. National Student Day is about celebrating the fact that they continue to study, serve, and grow as individuals.

From a business standpoint, National Student Day offers stores and their vendors the opportunity to connect with their student customers in a unique and fun way. Although PartnerShip provides LTL freight, small package, and tradeshow shipping services to a wide variety of industries - college stores and their vendors are still an important group of customers for us. And so ... our calendars are marked for October 4, 2012, and we're ready to join the National Student Day celebration!
