• PartnerShip Launches a Truckload Load Board

    04/28/2015 — Matt Nagel

PartnerShip continues to develop PartnerShip.com with our customers and carrier partners in mind. Recently, we launched the PartnerShip Load Board that provides better visibility to the available truckload shipments from PartnerShip customers to PartnerShip carriers. PartnerShip connects the best national, regional, and local carriers with businesses for all of their truckload needs. The board provides carriers with information about the load, like equipment needed and whether it’s a full and partial load, as well as the origin and destination of the shipment. Best of all, this load board is completely free to view at anytime - no logging in or information is needed to view the available loads.

Carriers are encouraged to inquire about any loads by calling PartnerShip at 800-599-2902 option 2. The loads are only available to PartnerShip vetted and approved carriers. To become a core partner carrier please contact one of our Carrier Procurement Representatives for a setup packet at carriers@PartnerShip.com or visit our Becoming a PartnerShip Carrier web page.

Click here to visit the PartnerShip Load Board today!

Below are the truckload shipments that are available today, but be sure to check the page often for new opportunities:

  • 2014 Freight General Rate Increases

    05/01/2014 — Matt Nagel

Freight ShippingIt's that time of year again. Freight carriers have been announcing their general rate increases (GRIs) this spring. As we did last year, PartnerShip has compiled some details for your benefit so you can make well-informed, money and time saving decisions about the best way to handle your freight shipping.

If you're a seasoned freight shipper, you probably know all too well the ins and outs of the GRIs. However for our more novice shippers, the GRIs are just what they sound like — increases in freight rates. There are many reasons why these increases are necessary, but the main reason is a sharp increase in costs that carriers face every year due to things like rising fuel, maintenance, insurance, and labor costs.

As straight forward as the reasoning for the increases sound, there are also some less obvious nuances to the GRIs that, as your shipping connection, we can help to clear up. One of the more important things to remember is that these rate increases are only averages across all origin and destination ZIP code combinations served by each individual carrier. The effect of the rate increase will vary for individual customers and shipments based on geography, product classification, lane, weight, and dimensions. Using geography as an example, if there's an "average" GRI of 6%; some areas may see a 3% increase and some may see a 9% increase in freight charges. The customer in the area with a 9% increase will obviously see a larger bump in cost, especially if distribution is regional.

    General Rate Increases

Listed to the right, we've compiled GRI for the five largest national LTL freight carriers, the percentage at which their rates will be increasing, and the dates these increases will go into effect.

Remember, PartnerShip is here to help you offset these increases. We've negotiated with carriers on your behalf to bring you the best rates in the industry with the most reliable national and regional carriers. In addition to great rates, PartnerShip brings a dedicated freight team, free money-saving services like invoice auditing and inbound management, and easy-to-use online freight tools ... all designed to save your company time and take the guesswork out of freight shipping (click here to create a PartnerShip.com account if you haven't already).

If you would like more information on this year's GRIs, please contact PartnerShip at 800-599-2902 or email select@PartnerShip.com. Click the button below and we'll be happy to provide you with a free, no-obligation shipping analysis to help you determine which carriers and which lanes will save you the most money on your freight shipping.

  • Soles4Souls and PartnerShip Announce a New Alliance!

    03/25/2014 — Matt Nagel

    describe the image

PartnerShip employees recently lended a hand to Soles4Souls to help provide shoes to Boston's less privileged. Now, PartnerShip and Soles4Souls have entered into a new type of alliance - PartnerShip will be the endorsed Soles4Souls shipping provider and will coordinate the shipping from the donor drives to the nearest warehouse location. PartnerShip will also help Soles4Souls manage their transportation between warehouse facilities and shipments to shoe distributions in the U.S.

Soles4Souls, Inc. is a nonprofit social enterprise that advances the fight against global poverty by monetizing used shoes and clothing to create sustainable jobs and fund direct relief efforts around the world. The organization collects new and used shoes and clothes from individuals, schools, faith based institutions, civic organizations and corporate partners, then distributes shoes and clothes both via direct donations to people in need and through qualified micro-enterprise programs designed to create jobs in poor and disadvantaged communities.

Soles4Souls collects approximately 2,000,000 shoes each year through 5,000 to 7,000 donor drives taking place in any given year. A single donation drive may generate fifty pairs of shoes to three thousand pairs or more. The donors that sponsor the shoe drives are then responsible for paying freight cost to ship the shoes to the nearest of approximately 17 warehouse/distribution points around the country. Once the shoes reach one of the warehouse locations, the shoes are graded into A, B and C grades. They are then inventoried and eventually shipped to their micro-enterprise providers who pay for the freight (typically 53' containers).

PartnerShip is excited and honored to be a small part in such a worthy cause and look forward to providing shipping solutions for Soles4Souls donors — the lifeblood of this important organization.

If you would like more information or would like to donate today, visit Soles4Souls.org. You can also visit the official Soles4Souls shipping page to set up a donation shipment at PartnerShip.com/Soles4Souls.

  • PartnerShip is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year!

    01/31/2014 — Scott Frederick

PartnerShip 25th AnniversaryPartnerShip LLC is a leading shipping solutions provider to small- and medium-size businesses across North America, and we're celebrating our 25th anniversary this year! Founded in 1989, today PartnerShip develops and manages full-service shipping programs for over a hundred industry groups, representing thousands of customers across the U.S. and Canada.

PartnerShip was originally founded by the non-profit National Association of College Stores to help college retailers across the country save on their textbook shipping. The program expanded to include additional shipping services, such as general merchandise shipping, inbound shipping management, routing coordination, and consolidated invoicing. Due to the success of the program within the college industry, the concept was eventually expanded to other associations groups, the first of which included the American Booksellers Association and the National Association of Sporting Goods, but then followed by numerous others.

Building on the hallmarks of simple, worry-free shipping, outstanding savings, and exemplary customer service, the company enjoyed rapid growth from 2007 to 2012 in which it tripled in size and expanded operations to two new locations: One in northeast Ohio and the other in southern California. Leveraging its trade association expertise, and forging alliances with national, reputable carriers, such as FedEx, UPS Freight, YRC Freight, and Con-way Freight, the company was able to expand into dozens of new industries to help thousands of more businesses with their shipping.

Today, PartnerShip offers a wide range of shipping services including:

    • Less-than-truckload (LTL) freight shipping
    • Truckload, expedited and international freight shipping
    • Small package (express and ground) shipping
    • Exhibit shipping for trade shows and events
    • Inbound/vendor shipping management
    • Easy-to-use online freight management tools
    • Storage, moving, packing, and crating services
    • Discounted shipping supplies, and more

John Finucane, president and chief operating officer for PartnerShip, has been with the company for virtually its entire existence. John says the company has been fortunate to attract and retain high-caliber, dedicated people over the years. —Today, we have a staff of nearly 50 professionals that work hard to help our customers with all facets of shipping and logistics, each and every day,' said John. —Although we cater to small businesses, in our minds, there is no such thing as a small customer." John went on to add, —We're very proud of reaching this quarter-century milestone ... and in a very competitive and rapidly changing industry, we're looking forward to what the next 25 years will bring.'

The company officially kicks off its 25th anniversary celebration with a special, grass-roots exhibition and customer-appreciation event at CAMEX 2014, the college industry's largest trade show and educational event.  If you're a PartnerShip customer, carrier, or employee - or simply a fan - be on the lookout for additional news, promotions, videos, and other fun stuff throughout 2014 as we celebrate this milestone event in our company's history. But most importantly, thank you for your support of our great company!

  • Charitable Holiday Gifts from PartnerShip

    12/16/2013 — Scott Frederick

PartnerShip continues its annual tradition of "giving back" by sharing our good fortune during the holidays with area organizations that can use our support. In lieu of expensive customer gifts (other than our complimentary 2014 wall calendars), and as we have done in years past, we will be traveling to five local charities this week to make generous donations on behalf of PartnerShip. Our employees feel very passionate about the amazing things that all these charities do for the people in our community and many of us have been touched personally by some of them.

The organizations receiving these contributions are as follows (click on each name to learn more):

    • 2013 PS ChartiesDebRA of America: The mission of Debra (The Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) of America is to improve the quality of life for all people living with EB, their families, and the caregivers through programs and services while funding research to find a cure and treatments for Epidermolysis Bullosa.

    • Purple Lotus Project: Based in Lorain County, the Purple Lotus Project is a non-profit organization that provides education, transition and safety resources to women, teens, children, men and animals that are affected by domestic violence and abuse. Using a wide range of resources to assist those who need help to escape or help someone escape an abusive/domestic violence situation.

    • Oaks Family Care Center:  A non-profit, non-political social service agency; Oaks Family Care Center provides support and encouragement to fathers, mothers, teens and all those in crisis. They help families understand their options so they can make educated decisions regarding life issues. Offering support groups and classes, material goods, outreach programs and a help line to anyone who needs support in their life.

    • Elisabeth's House: The Prentiss Wellness Nursery (Providence House): The Prentiss Wellness Nursery is a collaborative, innovative solution addressing children's medical needs and family stability to support safe discharge of children from a hospital to an appropriate setting combined with intensive family support services to increase caregiver capacity and stabilize family crises. The vision of the nursery is that children everywhere are raised in safe, loving families free from abuse and neglect.

    • Beds for Cleveland Kids: With over 3,000 families coming into the Cleveland Furniture Bank every year looking for basic home furnishing, and many with children who need beds to sleep in, the demand was too high for them to keep up with. Thus Beds for Cleveland Kids was formed in order to obtain donations from the public with the objective being to provide a gently used bed to every child in Cleveland that needs one, so that no child has to sleep on the floor.

PartnerShip continues its long history of generously giving back to the community, through individual fund-raising events and yearly participation in our local United Way drive. Each of the selected charities has touched our employees' hearts in a personal way and holds special meaning to our company. We hope that you agree that these donations will have a great and beneficial impact - after all, these donations would not be possible without the business and support of our many customers.

    Thank you and happy holidays!

  • PartnerShip Supports the Great American Smokeout Day

    11/21/2013 — Scott Frederick

Great American SmokeoutPartnerShip would like to remind everyone that today is the Great American Smokeout Day. The goal of this special day is quite obvious: to get people to quit smoking, resulting in fewer health problems, and  less cancer and emphysema deaths resulting from smoking and secondary smoke.

Quitting smoking is not an easy task. Often (usually), it takes repeated efforts. That's okay, as long as you keep trying until you finally succeed. The health benefits, and the prospect of a longer life are crystal clear.

The American Cancer Society encourages all smokers to give up the "butt" today. Join millions of other Americans today and take a big step to a happier, healthier, longer life.

The health benefits of quitting start immediately from the moment of smoking cessation. Quitting while you are younger will reduce your health risks more, but quitting at any age can give back years of life that would be lost by continuing to smoke. Here are some facts from the cancer.org website:

  • LTL Freight Carriers Announce 2013 General Rate Increases

    06/25/2013 — Matt Nagel

Freight TrucksIf you pay close attention to the shipping industry and its trends, you may have noticed that LTL (less-than-truckload) freight carriers have been announcing their general rate increases (GRIs) over the last month - one month earlier than last year. As your shipping connection, we've compiled summary information on the rate increases for your reference below. In sharing this information we hope to help shippers make informed decisions about how (and at what cost) your freight gets to where it needs to go.

Which carriers are instituting this increase?

See the chart below for the PartnerShip core carriers that have announced the increases, the percentage at which rates will be increasing, and the dates these increases will go into effect.

    General Rate Increase

Please keep in mind that these percentages are only averages across all origin and destination ZIP code combinations served by each individual LTL carrier. The effect of the rate increase will vary for individual customers and shipments based on geography, product classification, lane, weight, and dimensions. With these rate increases, carriers will often post the new base rates, rules tariff and accessorial charges on their individual websites for customer reference.

    Why are these increases necessary?

If you follow the transportation industry closely, there's no question that all LTL carriers are facing sharply higher costs. This includes rising fuel, maintenance, insurance, and labor costs. Wages and salaries are, reportedly, the biggest component. The cost of equipment has also skyrocketed with many carriers paying almost twice as much versus historic prices.

What does this mean for me?

Quite simply (and obliviously), these GRIs mean that you will be seeing a bump in freight charges. As stated above, these GRIs are averages and impact regions differently, so it's important to be aware of how your specific region is affected. If there's a GRI of 6%; some areas may see a 3% increase and some may see a 9% increase in freight charges. The customer in the area with a 9% increase will obviously see a larger bump in cost, especially if distribution is regional.

What can I do to minimize the impact?

Working with an experienced freight partner like PartnerShip helps you soften the blow of annual rate increases. We continue to negotiate the best rates with multiple carriers to keep our rates cost-effective for our small business customers. Additionally, our team of shipping experts provides value-added services to ensure your business is running smoothly. Online freight tools, consolidated invoicing, and inbound management are great perks to working with PartnerShip that save you time.

PartnerShip also provides free services such as invoice auditing for common invoicing mistakes, including missing discounts and carrier errors (approximately 5% to 10% of carrier invoices we review have mistakes in favor of the carrier - which we fix before consolidating and presenting to our customers); and we can often negotiate lower (or no) accessorial charges that add up quickly when sending and receiving freight.

If you have questions about these general rate increases and how they might impact your business, click the button below for a FREE shipping analysis; or feel free to contact us directly at 800-599-2902 or select@PartnerShip.com. Or if you have a shipment, feel free to create an account and start quoting today.

To demonstrate the value of our new product offering, we did our homework by scanning the marketplace to ensure our customers are getting the best deal possible. Additionally, we won't gouge you with exorbitant shipping fees. You have our commitment that the only shipping fees you'll pay with any order placed through PartnerShip are the same shipping fees we would pay ourselves - our shipping costs contain no mark ups and no "handling fees" (oh, and if your order is being shipped outside of Ohio, you won't have to pay sales taxes either).

  • A Holiday Gift from PartnerShip

    12/18/2012 — Scott Frederick

During this 2012 holiday season, we at PartnerShip continue our tradition of sharing our good fortune where it can benefit the less fortunate among us. In lieu of expensive customer gifts (other than our complimentary 2013 calendars), and as we have done in years past, we have made generous donations to five charities located near our corporate office in Cleveland, OH. Each, we feel, is worthy of our support because of the good they do in our community.

PartnerShip Charities 2012The organizations receiving these contributions are:

    • Debra: (The Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association of America) is committed to finding a cure for EB, while responding to the increased need to provide direct services to patients and their families.

    • American Cancer Society Hope Lodge: is a unique home away from home for people (and their families) who need temporary, comfortable, supportive accommodations offered free of charge during cancer treatments.

    • Ronald McDonald House: the family room is a brief respite for families to use while remaining merely steps away from their child's bedside; making it a bit of home within the walls of a hospital.

    • Emily's Hopeful Holiday: Emily is a 12 year old girl who was diagnosed with  Leukemia in 2007, now a cancer survivor, with her family she created EHH to raise funds to help other families at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital dealing with childhood cancer.

    • Ames Family Hospice House: this 32-bed hospice care center offers comfort care for seriously ill people and their loved ones in peaceful, comfortable surroundings. This facility is newly built and was built with patients and their families in mind with private suites and porches enhancing the home-like feeling.

PartnerShip has a long history of generously giving back to the community, through individual fund-raising events and yearly participation in our local United Way drive. Each of the selected charities has touched our employees' hearts in a personal way and holds special meaning to our company. We hope that you agree that these donations will have a great and beneficial impact - after all, these donations would not be possible without the loyalty and support of our customers.

    Thank you and happy holidays!
