The cost of your insurance is based on the weight of your shipment. You will pay $0.10 per lb. and will receive coverage of $50 per lb., up to the actual value of the product.

Let’s face it – shippers only cover a certain dollar amount on inbound and outbound shipments. Additional insurance is very inexpensive compared to how much a store can lose on large textbook shipments if damages occur or shipments are lost. Our store always adds additional insurance, we have filed several claims in the past, and the extra coverage has saved us from large financial losses we would have otherwise experienced. We always make sure to fully insure our shipments.

Understanding Carrier Liability vs. Freight Insurance
When you’re dealing with a damaged or lost shipment, making sure you get compensated is probably your first priority. But if you’re relying just on carrier liability coverage, that can be tricky. There are a few major differences between carrier liability and freight insurance that affect how and if you’ll be paid for your claim.
Carrier Liability
» The amount covered is determined by the carrier and is typically less than the value of your shipment — often only $5-15 per lb.
» The carrier must be found liable for the claim to be approved
» Claims can take up to 120 days to be paid out
Freight Insurance
» The amount covered is determined by the insurance provider and is typically based on the declared value and/or weight of your shipment
» The carrier doesn't have to be found liable for the claim to be approved
» Claims are typically paid within 30 days
*Shipments must be less-than-truckload (LTL) freight billed through PartnerShip to qualify for freight insurance. Cost is $0.10 per lb. of your total shipment weight, with a $20 minimum. You will receive $50 per lb. coverage, up to the actual value of the product. Maximum liability is $100,000. Pricing may change if you elect to receive a different amount of coverage than $50 per lb.
