Yellow Transportation Announces 5.95% General Rate Increase
Yellow stated February 28, 2006 that it must increase its rates as a direct result of significant increases in insurance, security and rail transportation. Given these fiscal realities, and the marketplace requirements of remaining a strong, competitive transportation provider, Yellow will implement a rate increase of 5.95 percent for the United States and Canada effective March 13, 2006. The impact may vary depending on specific lanes and shipment characteristics, such as weight or class. Yellow will also make modest adjustments to the absolute minimum charge, as well as to extended service charges. More information about these adjustments will be forthcoming from Yellow.
