Shipping News UPS Completes Acquisition of Overnite Transportation

On August 5, 2005, UPS completed the acquisition of Overnite Corporation, which includes Overnite Transportation and Motor Cargo Industries. Overnite Transportation customers will now be able to tap into the extensive range of global transportation and supply chain options offered by UPS, the world's largest package distribution company. The acquisition also allows UPS to expand its LTL capabilities, offering a comprehensive portfolio of services for moving goods—from heavy freight to small packages—via air, ground, and ocean. A team of UPS, Overnite and Motor Cargo people is already in place, with a goal of providing a seamless transition. There are no changes required at this time, and all current Overnite and UPS contacts remain available at the same phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
