Shipping News CF Update
September 10, 2002
By now all of you are probably aware that Consolidated Freightways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on September 3 and began immediately to discontinue operations. The closing of Consolidated Freightways left many shipments stranded in their system with no way of getting those shipments to their final destination. On September 6, Consolidated Freightways said it is re-opening certain terminals and bringing back as many drivers and terminal employees as necessary to expedite the delivery of shipments remaining in their system. Consolidated Freightways is also allowing their customers to make their own arrangements for delivery of freight. These options vary from terminal to terminal, so it is best to contact your local CF terminal to check the status of your shipment and to determine what options are available to you. Customers may also continue to trace shipments on Consolidated Freightways' website at www.cf.com and have visibility of all shipments up to the point of delivery. |
